Rajya Sabha passes Bill seeking blanket ban on e-cigarettes

NEW DELHI : India is all set to impose a blanket ban on e-cigarettes as Rajya Sabha on Monday passed The Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacture, Import, Export, Transport, Sale, Distribution, Storage and Advertisement) Bill, 2019.

The Bill that was passed with voice vote in upper house, has already received a nod from the Lok Sabha. During the discussion, responding to apprehensions of Rajya Sabha members, union health minister Harsh Vardhan said, “We have done it with very pious intention and there is no vested interest of the government.” READ MORE
